Visual Echoes for Human Rights Advocacy (VEHRA) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Ms. Sandru Vanessa as our new Executive Director, effective January 15
2026.
Sandru is one of the co-founders of VEHRA and has been deeply involved in the
organization’s journey since its inception. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and
Education from Kyambogo University and brings meaningful experience as an educator,
human rights advocate, and program leader.
Her leadership journey within VEHRA reflects years of dedication and growth. Sandru first
served as Administrator, later advancing to Programs Manager, where she successfully
guided advocacy initiatives, arts-based activism, and community-centered support programs
for LGBTQ+ communities.
Alongside her work with VEHRA, Sandru is also a teacher, and has participated in several
professional development and leadership programs, further strengthening her commitment to
community empowerment and social justice.
As Steven Muleme steps down from the Executive Director role, VEHRA continues to move
forward under the guidance of a leader who understands the organization’s values, its history,
and the communities it serves.
We invite our partners and friends to join us in congratulating Ms. Sandru Vanessa and
welcoming her into this new chapter of leadership.
Together, we continue the work of dignity, visibility, healing, and justice.
